Imperfect Curtains

Our kitchen is off of our laundry room. Our laundry room has two big windows. These windows are the only ones in the house without window coverings. Certain times of the year, when we eat meals at the kitchen table (our main “family meals” table), sunlight shines through those laundry room windows directly into our eyes. Normally we just grin and bear it (or complain about it and do nothing to solve the problem). Until tonight.

I have hemmed curtains we’ve had (and not used) since we lived in North Carolina in the early 00’s and hung them in the those big laundry room windows.

I’ve got tie-backs on them so we can look out the windows when we want to and then pull the curtains across the windows when the sun shines too brightly.

They’re not perfect. They’re actually made from sheets that were on sale. But they work. And even more important, I’ve finally finished a project that’s been waiting two years to be done. Hooray for me!

Curtains!

This photo is meant to show the curtains, not endorse any particular product. That’s my husband’s backpack and is a vestige of my days of gainful employment. It’s a good backpack. He wears it during his daily bike commute. Have I mentioned that I think my husband is particularly badass?
