Bootie Call

I was finishing projects left and right the last week of January. I’m not sure what’s gotten into me, but I’m going with it.

My most recently completed project is these baby slippers.

Bear Booties!
He's happy to be on a little baby foot finally. Also happy to finally have a face.

I started them when my friend Katie was pregnant with her second child. That child is almost four years old and until Sunday morning, these booties were still waiting to be assembled. I got them all put together and was thrilled to find that they’re just the right size for my son! (So thrilled, it only bothered me a little that the ears on one are much farther apart than the ears on the other. More imperfect crafting. *Sigh* I made up for it by only photographing head-on the one whose ears I like best.) When he outgrows them, then I can send them to my friend for her third child, who should be about big enough to wear them by then.

The non-skid goo I bought in 2003 has hardened inside the tube, so I’ll need to make a trip to the fabric shop before I can de-skid them. But Little Guy seems to get around fairly well in them even without the non-skid bottoms, so I think I can probably procrastinate that part.

These booties are from a pattern in 50 Baby Bootees to Knit by Zoë Mellor. There are so many adorable patterns in this book. I may just start a few more to have ready for a child who will be born in 2016.

Your turn! What's on your mind?
