Little Jokers

The past several days, my children have been telling knock-knock jokes.

Knock-knock jokes told by a six-year-old follow the basic structure, but generally lack a punchline.

Knock knock!

Who’s there?

Slime!

Slime, who?

Slime me, and I’ll slime your baby.

Knock-knock jokes told by a two-year-old are something else entirely. They vary somewhat from one another, but they all contain, “knock knock!” and “poop.”

Knock knock!

Who’s there?

Peas!

Peas, who?

Poop!

or

Knock knock!

Who’s there?

Slime!

Slime, who?

Poop!

Turns out, “poop!” is a fairly effective punchline.
