It’s possible that the decade of chronic sleep deprivation has finally caught up with me and is seriously clouding my judgment, but I just signed up for Dewey’s 24 Hour Readathon.
The link gives all of the details, but the basic idea is pretty straightforward: I’ll read as much as I can between 8am on Saturday, April 23, and 7:59am on Sunday, April 24. I’ll try to update here and/or on my Facebook Page as the day progresses.
What convinced me to participate was this post about the types of Readathon readers. Based on this list, I think I’m a Casual Readathon-er or maybe a Working Readthon-er, if you consider momming “work,” unrelenting pleasure that it is. Although I generally eschew labels, in this case, having one (or two) helped push me over the edge. Not that I needed that big a push to have an excuse to read all day. And just to be clear, I do not plan to stay up all night reading.
Now I just need to break it to the family that I’ll be ignoring them more comprehensively than usual this weekend. Daddy’s in charge of dinner, kids. (“Hooray! Pizza!”)
Oh, and I need come up with a book list. I’ve got some ideas, but I’ve not decided whether they’re good ideas yet or not. I’ll let you know when I’ve figured that out, which might not be until noon on Saturday. At the very least, I plan to finally crack open this month’s SBC selection, Into the Go-Slow by Bridgett M Davis. Could be a chance for a group readalong, if you’re reading this month’s book, too…
