Week 30 Review: I Don’t Want to Toot my Own Horn, But…

This week’s been nice. Calm. Even battling a self-diagnosed sinus infection, I had a pleasant week.

I’ve been looking my husband in the eye, touching him, keeping my criticisms to a minimum, and taking notice of my emotions. And it’s been going well.

Weekends are particularly challenging as I’m not used to having him around all day long, and he’s not used to being around all day long. And because our routines get knocked completely off-kilter on the weekends anyway. But he seems to have been inspired by my resolutions to use a more respectful, gentle tone of voice with me and the kids (he doesn’t yell, but he uses a gruff, deep, commanding “Daddy Voice” that really annoys me) and even to be more aware of when he’s starting to feel overwhelmed.

I’m proud of both of us.

Excellent. I enjoy reading about the good weeks. It seems most of the time when things are going well, most people don’t mention it because it’s just not as noticeable as when things are not going so well.

This is something I’m really trying to make a habit: recognizing and appreciating when things are working. Just from a practical standpoint, it makes more sense to focus on what’s working well rather than what’s not working. And from a mood perspective, it really does help me to feel happier and more at peace.

Isn’t it awesome the difference when we remember to make an effort? We’re in the same boat as you, trying…trying…and it is awesome! 🙂
